Agreement reached with LOCC

Announcements

We are pleased to share that Brown has successfully reached a two-year agreement with the Labor Organization of Community Coordinators (LOCC). The fully executed contract, which is in effect through June 1, 2026, is now available on the University Human Resources website.

LOCC represents Community Coordinators, who are undergraduate residential student staff who serve as role models and leaders among their peers. Approximately 140 students are employed as Community Coordinators each year. LOCC is a part of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals/American Federation of Teachers Local 6516.

A priority in the bargaining process was ensuring that Community Coordinators are supported in their work fostering undergraduate residential communities that promote a sense of belonging and holistic development.

We are grateful to members of LOCC’s bargaining team and Community Coordinator leaders for their partnership in reaching this important agreement. We also thank our colleagues in the Office of General Counsel and Employee and Labor Relations.

We look forward to continuing our productive and valuable working relationship with LOCC and the Community Coordinators.

Sincerely,

Koren Bakkegard, Associate Vice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students
