Biography

Kate Porter (she/her) is the Director of Campus Life Communications at Brown University, where she has served in a key leadership role in the Office of the Vice President for Campus Life since 2022. She partners with senior leaders to develop and implement strategic communications that elevate divisional priorities and strengthen engagement across the University's 20+ Campus Life departments. As a thought partner and consultant, she supports staff with messaging, marketing, and digital strategy that reflects the depth and diversity of their work.

Before joining Campus Life, Kate led communications and public engagement for Brown’s Swearer Center for Public Service, advancing its mission through strategic campaigns, donor relations, and university-wide collaboration. Prior to Brown, she spent more than a decade in nonprofit communications, with a focus on advocacy, public education, and policy change.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys soccer, painting, reading, and adventuring with her kids and dogs. She serves as Secretary of the Board at Wood River Health, a nonprofit community health center serving Washington County, Rhode Island, and southeastern Connecticut.
