Mikele St-Germain
Biography
Mikele St-Germain (she/her) joined the Division of Campus Life in 2021 as Brown’s first Director of Parent & Family Engagement. In collaboration with stakeholders within the Division of Campus Life and other University departments, Mikele has developed resources and programs that support parents and families to navigate the campus structure from matriculation to graduation. Mikele works with a campus-wide network of professional staff to build a strong community of engaged and informed parents and families.
From 2009 to 2021, Mikele served in various roles within Brown’s Event and Conference Services Department, most recently as Interim Director. During her tenure, Mikele built a highly respected team of event professionals dedicated to the strategic management of campus-wide celebrations, lectures, and academic conferences. She had direct oversight of over 100 university-sponsored events per year, including Convocation, Family Weekend, the Mid-Year Completion Ceremony, and Commencement – an event that includes 50+ ceremonies and typically draws over 10,000 alumni, families, and guests each year. Other highlights of her event work include Brown's 250+ Anniversary Celebration, the Inauguration of President Christina H. Paxson, the Achebe Colloquium on Africa, the 50th Anniversary of the Open Curriculum, the University’s successful attempt to break a Guinness World Record, and “A Conversation with Jessica Meir ‘99” which was broadcast live from the International Space Station. In 2018, Mikele was awarded Brown University’s Excellence Award in Leadership.
Mikele holds both an MBA and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island and is a proud native of the state. In her free time, she enjoys traveling here and abroad with her two children who have served as both an inspiration and a training ground for her work in parent and family engagement.
