Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting
What We Do
The Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting serves all members of the Brown community, offering consultation and advice, formal and informal processes for resolving complaints of discrimination and harassment, and resources and support. We work with University departments and staff to offer consultation about compliance with civil rights laws and regulations, and we partner with other University offices to investigate concerns and address prohibited conduct.
We provide oversight of policies and procedures to ensure that Brown University is compliant with relevant federal laws, including, but not limited to, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and other applicable state laws and regulations and Brown University policies.
Who We Are
Staff in the Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting support individuals who report situations or concerns about discrimination, harassment, disability discrimination, denial of accessibility accommodations, gender discrimination and sexual violence. Our staff members partner with other University offices to investigate these concerns and address prohibited conduct.
