Brown is committed to preventing and addressing sexual misconduct and to supporting members of our community affected by sexual and gender-based harm. We recognize the serious impact these experiences can have on individuals and our community, and we are committed to responding with care, respect and accountability.
This page offers answers to frequently asked questions about Brown’s Title IX and sexual misconduct policies, reporting and resolution processes, and available resources and support. The FAQs also address common questions about recent changes to federal Title IX regulations and how Brown determines which University policies and processes may apply.
Developed as a resource for community members, these FAQs address Brown’s Title IX Policy, Title IX Grievance Procedure, Sexual Misconduct Policy and Sexual Misconduct Grievance Procedure, as well as options for seeking support, making a report, filing a complaint and participating in a resolution process. The Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting, which includes Brown’s Title IX Coordinator and staff responsible for Title IX and gender equity, can help individuals understand which policies or procedures may apply and what options are available.
In addition, Brown’s Report an Incident webpage enables any student, faculty, staff member or guest to report discriminatory or harassing behavior they have experienced or witnessed, including disability discrimination, denial of accessibility accommodations, sexual violence, gender-based discrimination and retaliation, among others.
These FAQs were developed in response to questions shared by members of the Brown community and will be updated as needed over time.
