Biography

Francisco A. Hernandez serves as the Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives.
Francisco A. Hernandez (he/him) joined the Division of Campus Life at Brown University as the Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Initiatives in October 2025. As a member of the Vice President for Campus Life's Leadership Team, Francisco serves as a key integrator bringing together complex initiatives, ensuring operational alignment, and functioning as both a strategic partner and a detail-oriented executor.

In this role, Francisco will build new and maintain existing programs and initiatives, working nimbly within an innovative and changing environment, creating vision and coordinated engagement and accountability, identifying resource needs and resource management, and demonstrating experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures to maximize the holistic student experience.

Francisco came to Brown in 2023 to oversee operations of the then-newly established Office of Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Francisco worked closely with the Dean to restructure the office into four centers focused on Student Belonging; Community Engagement and Pathway Programs; Innovation and Student Achievement; and Workforce Recruitment and Retention. He reorganized the office’s budget and developed a successful in-person Second Look event for fourth-year medical students from other medical schools to learn more about Brown residency programs.

During his free time, he enjoys time with family, reading, and traveling the world.
