The Title IX and Gender Equity Office oversees formal and informal resolution processes related to Title IX policies and procedures, and implements support measures and interim actions.
The work of the Title IX and Gender Equity Office within the Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting in the Division of Campus Life is part of the University’s larger efforts to promote and maintain a diverse community free of discrimination and harassment. Compliance with Title IX and other laws developed to promote gender equity is a key component of our efforts to ensure a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment at Brown.
Brown’s Title IX and Gender Equity Office:
- Oversees compliance with federal laws relating to sexual and gender-based harassment, commonly known as Title IX, as well as University policies and procedures relating to gender discrimination, sexual violence and misconduct.
- Collaborates with Brown students, staff, faculty and other campus partners to educate our community through robust prevention programs.
- Provides culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support and resources for individuals impacted by sexual misconduct.
- Collaborates with campus partners to address incidents of sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct and hold responsible parties accountable.
