Lisa Middleton
Biography
Lisa Middleton (she/her) joined the Division of Campus Life as the Director of Human Resources in September 2021. In this role, she provides collaborative HR leadership to support all staff and managers within the 18 departments, offices and centers in the Division. Lisa is responsible for all HR operations including consistent, compliant, and responsive recruitment, selection, onboarding, training and development, support, performance management, evaluation, compensation equity and development of staff members. She also serves as a central point of contact for operational and business processes related to human resources and as a resource to problem solve and offer guidance to managers in the division.
Lisa comes to Brown from 16 years of employment within Rhode Island state government, most recently as a Deputy Personnel Administrator managing and directing statewide activities related to job classification and reclassification, compensation, employment testing, performance development, data auditing and processing, several Lean initiatives, and other HR projects. Prior to that role, she co-led the implementation of a new HR structure by serving as an HR Liaison team lead, managing a staff of HR professionals providing direct and varied HR services to multiple State departments serving over 2,000 employees. Lisa holds a master’s degree in Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Gender Studies from Rhode Island College.
